Strategy and Action Plan for Kuala Lumpur Creative and Cultural District
TFCC was commissioned by Think City in Malaysia to develop a Strategy and Action Plan for a Kuala Lumpur Creative and Cultural District (KLCCD). This focused on the old downtown and historic core of Kuala Lumpur, which in recent decades became a rather forgotten part of the metropolitan area, with investment moving to the suburbs and major commercial zones.
TFCC developed situation analysis to understand the cultural and creative asset base and potential of KLCCD, researched to identify specific opportunities for sectors with an existing presence in the area such as fashion and gaming, and benchmarked to ensure KLCCD can play a dynamic role at a national and international level. This project continues our long-term activity in Malaysia, which includes the country's first creative strategy and blueprint (for Metro KL and the Klang Valley), policy guidance to help set up and support the country's first CCI Development Agency, CENDANA, a National Film Blueprint for film development agency FINAS, a detailed 'Cultural Insights' research programme for the British Council, and a series of in-depth city profiles (also for the British Council) which provided an overview of the cultural dynamics of 8 cities across the country.
