Heritage Assets Baseline Review for South Georgia and the Sandwich Islands

A very extensive baseline review of the fixed and movable heritage assets linked with the human history of the islands. South Georgia and the Sandwich Islands are  British Overseas Territory in the southern Atlantic Ocean. They are a remote and inhospitable collection of islands that played an important role in ocean exploration, sealing and whaling. Today they contain a rich mix of heritage sites and host incredible fauna, with penguin colonies and diverse ocean life. The baseline review led to a Heritage Strategy to support the future governance of the islands' heritage assets. It builds on our work in heritage strategy in diverse contexts across the world.
